Dr Ameya Ingawale grew up in Thane. He attended Vasant Vihar High School where he was elected headboy. He went on to study medicine and subsequently completed his basic ophthalmology training in the prestigious Sankara Eye Hospital in Tamil Nadu. He then did a Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive surgery in the same institute where he learnt the finer aspects of LASIK, other refractive procedures, management of corneal disorders etc. He is a veteran cataract surgeon and had performed more than 12,000 cataract surgeries by the age of 29 itself.
